The S/4HANA deadline

The ECC clock is running.

SAP mainstream maintenance for ECC 6.0 ends after 2027, with optional extended maintenance to 2030 at extra cost. The migration path you pick decides how much of that time you spend on rework.

A typical brownfield conversion takes 9 to 18 months including testing. Programmes that start in 2027 leave little room for slippage.

NEW IMPLEMENTATION

Start clean on S/4HANA and redesign processes around standard. Best when the old system carries years of custom code.

SYSTEM CONVERSION

Convert your existing ECC system in place. Keeps history and configuration, and is usually the fastest route.

RISE with SAP or on-premise?

Both run the same S/4HANA. The difference is who runs the infrastructure and how you pay. We help you compare them on your numbers.

FAQ

S/4HANA questions we hear most.

When does support for SAP ECC end?

SAP mainstream maintenance for ECC 6.0 (enhancement packages 6 to 8) runs until the end of 2027. Optional extended maintenance is available until the end of 2030 at an additional fee.

How long does a migration take?

A brownfield conversion typically takes 9 to 18 months including testing. Greenfield and selective transitions vary more with the amount of process redesign.

Can we keep our historical data?

With a brownfield conversion all history comes across. With greenfield you choose what to load. Selective data transition lets you carry over specific company codes or years.

Do we have to move to RISE with SAP?

No. S/4HANA can run on-premise or in your own cloud. RISE bundles software, infrastructure and technical operations into one subscription, which suits many but not all organisations.

What happens to our custom code?

We scan it, remove what is no longer used, adapt what must stay and move suitable extensions to SAP BTP so future upgrades are easier.

Start with a 4–6 week readiness assessment.

You get the custom code picture, the recommended path, a timeline and a costed business case.
